If you need to change your website frequently, modifying pages or adding new pages and sections, the best choose is to use a CMS (Content Manage System) system.
CMS systems allow everybody is able to use Internet browser (for example Internet Explorer) to modify web pages quickly and easily. In this way at the beginning the website layout is set out by a web designer, while the content is directly inserted by text editors, who must only have got a PC and an Internet connection.
Those tools allow to mantain a website with a bigger semplicity, velocity and flexibility, essential qualities to have a significant presence on the Internet.
At the moment Bit Wave uses 2 CMS systems to manage website content:
* SPIP (système de publication pour l'internet)
SPIP is a publishing system developed to manage the site uZIne , a french web magazine. Now SPIP has became a free software distributed under the GNU General Public License or GPL license-- http://www.spip.net/en_article129.html . It allows a multi-user management, laying out your articles without the need to use HTML, easily modifying the structure of your site, using the same application used to browse a site (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera, Netscape,..). SPIP is very flexible and mainly orientated towards the creation of a structured site with sections and sub-sections where you can insert articles and news, items which could be completed with discussion forums. To work it requires PHP and MySQL are required for its running. It is available in italian and in many other languages.
* BIG MEDIUM
BM is a software created by GLOBAL MOXIE, a software house located in Paris. BM is a complete and user friendly CMS. It is quite powerful to manage big and fast changing websites. It has a very important feature to have an efficient website: the pages managed by BM are rebuilded after every change and are static HTML pages, without the need to hit a database everytime a visitor requests a page, which can cause a slowing down in the server web. Using BM doesn't need a special database installation: it works on Unix systems with a standard Perl installation. It is quite cheap and the on line technical support is very good.
BIT WAVE REALIZES WEB SITES THAT ARE:
- light, ecological and usable with CSS, HTML and XHTML standard;
- updatable by yourself with CMS programs for content management;
- dynamic with PHP and MySQL.
